Promised land
Shit is that our promised land over there
No surely not thats blot on a world map that fares
So badly in peace terms surely my vision fails
How can that be holy with all the blood that assails
My senses surely I’m looking through splintered lenses
That can’t be right
Two Semitic peoples attacking their own defenceless
In senseless needless silence a feel a loss
Which no moment amount of shining media sheen can gloss
Over bodies dropping like when autumn leaves begin to fall
And it shoddy when we’re all just nodding at the Wailing Wall
So words fail me but that of the greatest wailer should do
Feel the power of positive vibration that can flow thru,
your veins, & don’t feign that you can’t see the tree of life withering
When you’re getting down & quarrelling every day I’m envisioning
A schism, like a valley growing wider
As the glacier drives the icy feelings deeper the divide us
But glance a second at what sits across the negotiating table
& if you’re able remember peace is no fable
Nor a foible in all my lucid dreams
Surely we’re here to Tikkun Olam isn’t that what covenant means?
Shit, is that our promised land over there
So why can’t we promise in this land not to fight as other nations stare
So I’m sick of egos with inflation levels like Zimbabwe
& I’m tired of empty gestures
Like taking away old empire titles from Mugabe,
So why isn’t love in our repertoire
Rather the hearts of these men look like the inside of an abattoir
But so far I’m not better, no go getter
No jet setter I just attempt to spit my spiritual vibes
The chime & vibrate in harmony when I hear the peace cries
So a part of me dies at the demise of ceasefires
And I eat, sleep, drink that desire
That one day we will share the promised land together.
